The Taj Mahal is one of the most famous buildings in India, and possibly the world.?

In your opinion, what characteristics of this building cause it to be thought of as the epitomy of elegance and grace?

As Helen said, it WAS a gesture of love.

Architecturally speaking, it is a design in pure perfection.
Symmetrically stunning, perfect balance from side to side, but ALSO, the reflection of the entire structure coming right back to you from the reflection pool ..... genius.

The reflective pool image also gives you this slightly surreal vision, like a dream version, or heavenly version.

The only thing larger in the picture would be the sky, i.e. God.
And perfect blue against perfect white .... lovely, like clouds in in a blue sky.

Symbolically, it is a masterpiece, and a tribute to the imagination of man.

Artistically, it is Paradise.
(Paradise is actually described here as an ideal garden of abundance with four rivers flowing from a central spring or mountain, separating the garden into north, west, south and east.)

It is the Garden of Eden.
It is Paradise.
It is Heaven.
Or at least the closet we as human will get to describing it.
