Anyone been to India for a holiday? How would you rate it?

I'm thinking of going to India in July, I know it's going to be boiling hot, but thats the time of year I'm able to go. I was just wondering how you would rate India as a tourist destination? I'm planning to stay in Delhi and of course visit the Taj Mahal. Any other tourist attraction recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Answer :
Not a very tourist friendly destination, but slowly getting there
based on number of days you are staying in India, and your interests - you will have a wide variety of choices
Beaches - Goa and Gokarn in Karnataka state - these are on the western coast of India
Monuments like forts and palaces you need to go to Rajastan (deserts, but huge forts)
Hilly ghats - Maharastra state, with Ajanta and Elllora Buddist caves - Awesome architecture
Ancient temples - Madya pradesh and orissa - the famous sun temples and khajuraho temples
Back weters of kerala - boat rides and healing oil massages and tea and coffee estates in munnar
Hill stations - Himachal pradesh, uttar pradesh
Food - Lucknow and Hyderabad - basically food is great every where you go, but tends to be spicer as you go south
Temples - tamil nadu
Clothes - bengal, andra pradesh and tamil nadu - Cotton and silk
Trekking - in Sikkim - virginal trekking tracks and forests - the best in the world
Tea estates - northern bengal - darjelling, merek and other places

Answer :
There are varieties of options available in India. There mountains/ sea/ desert. You name it.
If you think its going to be boiling hot during that time, why don't you try Manali as well. Its not close. But close enough. The views of Himalayas will mesmerize you. I am a Bangladeshi but been to few hill stations of India. You will love it. I shall rate it A1.
